The Meaning: Stay Wild, Moonchild

I've always heard the phrase Stay Wild, Moonchild but never understood the definition of a "Moonchild". The years of pondering have officially come to an end. I found a few definitions and descriptions describing not only the term "Moonchild", but the entire phrase as well. According to English Oxford Living Dictionaries, the term "Moonchild" originated in the year 1920.  I wish I could find more historical knowledge regarding the phrase's origin. However, the additional information I did find was pretty cool and encourages those who are themselves to remain themselves.

Definitions

Urban Dictionary: Something to say to a person when you never want them to change. Mostly a crazy person who is feeling down or has been bullied.

or

A rather unique individual, often described as being slightly crazy and over emotional. Moon children sometimes say strange things, but hey, that's how a Moon Child rolls!

English Oxford Living Dictionaries: A person affected by or born under the influence of the moon; specifically (a) (among the Kuna people of Panama) an albino; (b) Astrology a person born under the sign of Cancer (having the moon as its ruling planet); (c) informal a hippie.

HiNative.com Member: P4rker explains "this is just a rhyming phrase. "stay wild" means "keep being you and doing what you're doing (in this case, they're being "wild")"moon child" is just a phrase that means... hippy people? indie/alternative girls probably call themselves "moon child".

Pinterest: One who belongs to a community of integrity, love and unity.

Descriptions

@dopedaydreamer's Tumblr page describes Stay Wild, Moon Child beautifully. She writes:

"You were born to dance to the beat of your own heart. To roam without cages, with the innocence of a child and the free spirit of untamed horses. I hope you laugh without stopping, live with abandon, and love like that’s all there is. Stay wild, my wild, wild child✌✌"

Being a "Moon Child" seems to mean following your own path and intuition. A "Moon Child" lives their dreams to the fullest no matter how outlandish. Therefore, I agree with the phrase Stay Wild, Moon Child......live it up! Show society what living really means.
